Judy Host

Join Judy in After Dark as she demonstrates how to use the Lensbaby in a natural light and studio setting.  She will have several demo lenses with her for those of you that want to try first hand how to use this kind of lens. You can create quite an excitement with your clients as they see their images in a totally different way.  The Lensbaby comes with several creative attachments and those will be available to students as well.

Later that same day, you will have a chance to create some beautiful imagery with Graphic Authority’s Templates.  Judy will show you how to finish your images with this amazing product, which includes their brand new Library of Vintage/Rustic/Scribe graphics.   Bring only your laptops, some images and a create spirit.  A wacom tablet will make the work a little bit easier if you have one.

Judy Host is one of the nations top portrait photographers.  She has won numerous awards for her photography and has been featured in several publications for her outstanding environmental portraiture.  In 2004, she was featured in Rangefinder magazine as one of “Today’s Top Children’s photographers.” Her work has been selected for National Exhibition by the Professional Photographers of America from whom she has received a Masters and Craftsman degree.  In 1999, Judy received her first of three Kodak Gallery awards.  This award is given to those photographers who excel in creativity and the pursuit of excellence in quality.  In the year 2000, she received the second award and in 2002, the third award for Kodak’s Electronic Imaging.  Many of her images have been exhibited at Epcot Center and are part of a traveling loan collection. 

In January 2004, Judy was selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press to include a portrait session in the presenter gift box for the Golden Globes.  The response was so great, she was asked to include the Gift Certificate once again for the 2005 Golden Globes.  These presenter gift boxes are given to the 60 celebrities that present awards during the telecast.  She has photographed for Jack Nicholson, Pierce Brosnan, Nicole Kidman, Mehki Phifer, William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman and many more. Judy is also the first photographer to have photographed at a private viewing dinner hosted by In Style and Warner Bros. that is held during the Golden Globes presentation.  In addition, several of her images that were created specifically for that event, were featured and integrated as the centerpiece of the party’s décor.   

In 2005, Judy was asked to travel to Africa to photograph for an organization called The Project To End Poverty which is a non-charitable private-sector endeavor designed to mobilize the global community to bring an end to poverty.  This assignment included photographing the presidents of both Uganda and Rwanda and visiting several orphanages in both countries.

That same year, Judy was invited to travel with a Foundation called Healing Among Nations to document the progress of the Tsunami survivors. This project took her to India, Thailand, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

Judy teaches internationally a series of workshops on the “Art of Lighting” and “Creating your own style.”  Upcoming seminars will be held in the following places: Maui, Mexico, San Francisco, and Las Vegas.
