How did you get started in the business? Who helped/guided/mentored you?
“I got started early on at age 13 with the support of my parents. I started my portrait business in high school, and really learned how to run my business after interning with photographer John Harrington. I truly thank my parents for supporting my emotionally and financially no matter my needs.”
“I draw inspiration from studying the masters of fashion photography. They carved out what fashion photography has become and have set an incredible standard for art and quality. These include Richard Avedon, Irving Penn, Albert Watson, Helmut Newton, and many others. I draw inspiration from these masters and frequently scour the internet for images that inspire me.
If you’re thinking about coming to another After Dark Event, remember each After Dark is a unique experience. There are different classes, different mentors, and just different learning experiences available at each. If you’ve never been to After Dark Before, get to know the photographers coming to After Dark, and figure out who’s work inspires you most. On the first day, try to see a variety of presenters and figure out which have a teaching style you learn best from. ‘Spend your life doing what you love most. Focus your efforts on making those sweetest moments take up as much time as possible.’ “
