Adam Hunter

Adam T. Hunter, M.Photog, Cr., CPP, Adobe Certified Expert

My background is in graphic design but I fell into photography and have loved it ever since. My expertise is Photoshop and anything after the capture of an image. My passion is educating photographers how to create high quality images in less time so you can make more money.

From Adam:
Hey gang, if you are planning on coming to see me, bring along your laptop and some images that you have questions about. You can even bring other people’s images if you want to know how to get similar results or if you just want to know how they did it. Also, don’t be shy if you are new to photography. I regularly work with photographers of every skill level and every age.

How did you get started in the business?
I learned about photography during the 12 years I spent working for master photographer Jon Read. Read Photography is a high volume studio in the Midwest and I was the head of their digital department. I spent most of my time in front of a computer and I estimate that I have worked on over 700,000 photos during my career. All that hard work and experience has paid off with dream jobs and national photography awards. Jon and I, as a photographer/digital artist team, won Photographer of the Year awards from 6 different photography organizations for his senior folios. My illustrative photography has also garnered Photographer of the Year honors from my state four times, my region twice, and nationally 6 times.

Why is education important to you? How long have you been teaching? What made you get into teaching? What do you get out of being a mentor?
I became a regular convention speaker and that is where I discovered my passion for teaching. In the fall of 2012, I left Read Photography to become an instructor for the Hawkeye Community College Photography Program in Waterloo, Iowa. I now dedicate my time to educating photographers of every skill level to raise the bar in professional photography. With so many new photographers joining our profession, I believe that photography education has never been more important and that is why I’m happy to be attending my first After Dark and I’m excited to be one of your mentors!
